Afrofuturism in Flight

The Afrofuturism Book Launch & Signing in Chicago was a success! The event was jam packed with SF lovers. There was plenty of cosplay, too! Author Ytasha L. Womack was dressed as her character, Rayla Illmatic of Rayla 2212. There were spottings of Captain America, Batgirl and Basquiat. Singer/Photographer Motep made his return showcasing a special Afrofuturist image of designer Cleo. Other special attendees include  Turtel Onli, creator of Black Age in Comics, video director Chris Adams, artist/professor D. Denenge Akpem, Silver Room owner Eric Williams, Polished Pebble founder Kelly Fair and “Carbnerdious” director Tony Williams.  The event was styled by Erika Jones Purvis of A Social Step. Remy Martin provided the libations. The Afrofuturism Book Launch was held at Red Kiva, Thursday Oct. 3.
